REACHING FARTHER, DOING MORE

Special Dinner Raises Awareness of New Hospital in The Woodlands

Providing the best pediatric medical care available and expanding that care to reach even more children and families. That’s what Texas Children’s is all about.

On Wednesday, December 4, 2013, former Astros Manager Phil Garner and his wife, Carol, hosted a dinner at their home in The Woodlands to help spread the word about Texas Children’s newest expansion. In 2017, Texas Children’s Hospital The Woodlands will open its doors to serve that community and others north of Houston.

“I am excited that Texas Children’s is building this new community pediatric hospital right here,” said Carol Garner. “This is exactly what we need to ensure that children and families have convenient accessto the highest quality care close to home. It’s an important effort, and Phil and I are fully committed to it. Texas Children’s is making a significant investment here, and the same will be needed from others.”

Hosting the dinner along with the Garners were supporters Ralph and Shirley Alexander and Gary and Pam Whitlock, along with Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus chief medical officer Dr. Charles Hankins and his wife, Amy. Also in attendance were Judy and Glenn Smith, Mark and Gloria Tressler, Ed Robb, Sallie Rainer and Mark A. Wallace, president and CEO of Texas Children’s Hospital.
